Newark 09 - The Best Newark for Years

Newark 09

The best Newark for years is a sentence that sums up Newark 09. The main exhibition had more exhibitors and the quality was higher than ever. We had more clubs, more going on and better weather. It was a GREAT weekend.

A big thank you to the Manufacturers who put on an amazing display of top Kit Cars. It was amazing to have THREE show debuts, The Spectre from Sylva Autokits, Extreme 430 and also their exo-car based inspired by the Ariel Atom. New to Newark was GKD Sportscars and the Eleanor Mustang also attracted a lot of attention.

The Italian theme was created by DNA Automotive and Extreme Cars. DNA had two stunning Toyota MR2 Super Car Kits. Extreme having a genuine Lamborghini Murcielago and a Replica nose to nose at the show caused a great deal of interest. The replica is based on Toyota MR2 Mk2.

Lovers of traditional touring cars had models from Beauford Cars Gentry Motor Car Co. and Tempest Cars. AK Sportscars and Hawk Cars and Pilgrim Cars had lovely displays of Cobra Replicas.

Those interested in Sevenesque replicas were spoilt for choice with MK Sports Cars, Mac#1 Motorsport and Great British Sportscars. The off road and buggy fans were well catered for by Blitzworld and MEV.

Not only did the cars look fantastic the staff manning the stands were kept busy with enquiries and many manufacturers reported good sales.

The trade stands in the main exhibition hall were first class and were kept very busy. One of several new companies to Newark were Power Torque with a very impressive stand.

All three leading Kit Car Magazines were present, Complete Kit Car Magazine, Kit car Magazine and tkc magazine.

Out on the showground there were plenty of varied trade Stands as well as the popular Autojumble village.

The weather was just right for the participating clubs, there were over 70 this year. They covered the showground and their cars were greatly admired by the visitors. There was also a good turn out of Classic and American Cars.

It was very good camping weather and many people enjoyed barbecues before sampling the fantastic evening entertainment. Many were impressed by the young band The Jackals that featured on Friday evening and the party on Saturday was great with an excellent disco and live Band Oak. They both got everyone singing along. A big thanks to all those who donned fancy dress to add to the party atmosphere. Our personal favourite was the Huge White Bunny Rabbit.

On Saturday and Sunday we got together as many Mini based Kit Cars as possible to mark the 50th birthday of the Mini an iconic car. It made a great photograph. On Sunday it was followed by Scamp owners forming their cars into the shape of a 40 to celebrate their cars birthday.

The Shield for the club with the most vehicles in attendance went to Robin Hood Owners Club. The Car Pull was won by The Mob, closely followed by The Mongrels Car Club. The best model display went to Mr Melton with his intricate farm models.

The model car racing organised by (Newark R.C.C.C) Newark Radio Control Car Club had a full two days of racing and had the prizes presented by Miss Kit Car.

Thanks to the Country Crafts Association for once again organising a great craft hall with high quality crafts of all kinds.

Breakfast being served on Saturday and Sunday mornings and a cafe as well as the usual Bar in the Cedric Ford Pavilion, were a welcome addition.

All in all a wonderful weekend, thanks for coming along. Hope to see you again in 2010 when the show dates are 19th & 20th June.
