2007 Show

The Newark Kit Car Festival celebrated it's 25th year in style.

The crowds turned out in droves and were treated to some amazing car displays both inside the huge Exhibition hall and outside on the vast showground. In spite of terrible weather in many parts of the country the Newark region was lucky, though showery on Saturday, Sunday was much better.

Over 20 Manufacturers exhibited over 50 models including, sports cars, super cars, track cars, off road and utility vehicles and period cars. Everyone has their own favourite but few would argue that one of the most outstanding stands was that of DC Supercars with their stunning Lamborghini replicas.

Great British Sports Cars launched the full range of options for their Brand New 07 Lightweight the Zero7. I hope some of you were able to take advantage of their special show promotion to mark the 25th Anniversary.

The two companies who were exhibiting at Newark for the first time and put on great displays were Spire Sports Cars and Mills Extreme Vehicles.

The Kit car Magazines were out in force to support the Show, - Complete Kit Car Magazine, Kit Car Magazine and Totalkitcar Magazine all attended.

Even when the halls are closed you can still have fun at the show. Those camping over were entertained on Friday evening in the Cedric Ford Pavilion by a local band The Jackals. Saturday night was a great party with the disco getting everyone in the party mood. The John and Paul Beatles duo were amazing.

Although some club stands were quiet on the Saturday, due to the weather, most were packed on Show Sunday. The cars as always were displayed at their. Robin Hood Owners Club won the prize for the highest turn out of cars, though the Cobra Replica Owners Club came close this year with 42 cars just on the Sunday. Newark is fortunate to get quantity and quality from the clubs.

There was also an excellent turn out of Classic Cars and some very interesting 'one off' designed cars and American cars and trucks.

The Trade Stands and Autojumble provided lots of people with just what they needed and even some things they didn’t know they needed. The cars for sale area was also popular with lots of interest being generated.

The Craft fair, model engineering displays, mini steam engines, stationary engines, model car racing and fairground all contributed to the great atmosphere of the show. A good time was had by all.

The Film Crew from ITV’s Pulling Power found loads of cars to film for a future programme featuring the Kit Car Scene.

A big thank you to everyone who played their part in making Newark 07 the great show it was.
